Bentley on Ice

Hardly back from my trip in the Arctic circle and already back there again (or almost), but this time: Bentley-style. The Bentley Motors Events office had this crazy plan to do some sliding with Bentleys on frozen lakes. Of course I was up for it…..

Location was one of the 1000 lakes of Finland; instructor was a mate of Juha Kankkunen and most importantly, the car: a Bentley Continental GT.

The driving, or more precisely the sliding, was of course the best bit, but it wouldn’t be right not to mention the luxury accommodation (with sauna obviously), the rest of the program (including dog sled adventures, snowmobiles) and the breathtaking sceneries.

Another place I didn’t want to leave…. and not only because I don’t own a Bentley myself.

Nordkapp

Another week, another dream come true. Together with a couple of friends I drove over 3000 km last week, all the way to the edge of northern Europe: Nordkapp.

This time, I didn’t bring my Mercedes or Porsche (although I noticed an old 911 making the same trip) but we managed to get our hands on a Volkswagen Touareg and a BMW X5. 

With 20 hours of darkness of the 24 each day gives you, our little convoy often seemed quite lost in the vastness of Lapland. The temperature however was relatively mild which made the whole enterprise less harsh than expected.

We were lucky to witness some shimmering northern lights, a breathtaking sight.  A truly wonderful experience therefore, making the whole trip, with most of the way home still to go, absolutely worth it.

Executive Box Football Club

The Parisian life suits me well.  I love the city, the restaurants and my wonderful little pied-a-terre. However, I do miss my friends, so something had to be done.

As shown during my visit to Barcelona, I love football. So I thought I‘d combine the two by getting an Executive Box in the stadium of my hometown football club.

Now, once every 2 weeks, I meet my friends. We have a drink, we eat something and we enjoy a game of football in very posh seats. 

Last weekend we saw our first game, and our team won. What a wonderful night that was…….
