Container Cruise

In a past life, I must have been a sailor. I have always been attracted by the vastness of the sea. To hop on a small sailing boat would probably be the best way to experience the same thrills these days, but I didn’t do that (although that will happen one day for sure). Instead, I was a (paying) passenger on a huge container cargo ship. 

Despite being close to 300 metres long, it was tiny compare to the ocean. And for 6 full days (and nights) that’s all there was, lots of ocean all around (and underneath).

Boring? Not for a second. The ocean looks different each hour of each day.  Relaxing? Absolutely. With no internet, no TV or radio you have plenty of time to read, think and sleep. Especially, and this is one of the best parts, because there are 25 hours in a day.

My trip went from Bremerhaven in Germany to Boston, USA. Due to the time difference between these 2 cities and the length of the trip you get a bonus hour each day. If you never have enough time for all the projects you would like to do, like me, this is the solution.

Completely revitalized and full of energy I set foot on shore, ready for the next part of my ‘voyage’.

American Express ‘Black’ Card

My recent lifestyle would be hard work….. if I didn’t have an American Express ‘Black’ Card or Centurion Card as is its official name. This little piece of titanium (I kid you not) makes all the difference.

Not only there doesn’t seem to be a spending limit (and God knows I’ve tried), but you get upgrades on flights, rental cars and hotels as well. The best bits though, are the dedicated concierge and travel agent. 

Just a phone call is all it takes to have anything organized for you. Holidays, sports games, shows, restaurants, you name it. The service is sublime and makes you feel very special indeed. It really provides worldwide access to the inaccessible……

Ascari Driving Experience

As nice as it is to visit Goodwood or the British GP, nothing beats sitting behind the wheel, especially if it’s on a race track and even more so when the race track is Ascari.

During a well spend day I got a chance to drive a ‘trackday’-Radical and even a LOLA F3 racing car! That in itself was worth the trip to the south of Spain, but that wouldn’t do justice to the professional instructor or even the facilities at the track. 

Imagine a beautiful race track in a wonderful landscape including a quality restaurant, club house and swimming pool. Got a mental picture? It’s even better than that! I didn’t know you could have so much fun and such thrilling experiences in a single day….

Yacht charter

Time for another holiday, and this time a proper millionaires holiday. I chartered (but nobody could see I didn’t actually own it) a yacht in the Mediterranean. And what a wonderful holiday that was.

First of all the yacht had an awesome crew (obviously) and it turns out it’s really nice to have staff doing EVERYTHING for you. Then the ‘berths’ were simply excellent, matching that of the best hotels I stayed. Finally, it’s not just a holiday in Ibiza, Saint Tropez or Monaco; it’s all these special places into 1 holiday.

Than the food, the wine, the weather. Wonderful views every day and every night. No hassles, just parties and relaxation in the company of friends. I wonder why I don’t do this every week…….
