MiG flying......

….. or at least, that was the plan. For a long time now I wanted to fly supersonic and with Concorde retired I would have to look into fighter jets.
Sure enough, it’s possible to do so (for a hefty price tag) in Russia.

But then they got involved in Ukraine, helped shooting down a passenger plane and became seriously unfriendly. So that was the end of that.

However, the agency I contacted had other options. They had other, less fast, aircrafts in other regions but also the possibility of a Parabolic Flight, so I decided to go for that.

You basically get on board of a pretty much empty Boeing 727. It goes really high and then it dives resulting in you floating around for 25 seconds or so. It’s brilliant!

Mind you, I will not forget about the Jet Fighter flight, so stay tuned for when that happens……

World Cup Brazil

A quick hello from Rio, where I witnessed the Germans beat Argentina and win the World Cup. Over the last couple of weeks I managed to visit 5 games and I enjoyed them all.  What a World Cup, what a country, what a people. I can honestly say I was impressed with the passion of the Brazilians. The people, not their football team.

The truth is, I wouldn’t have mind seeing Messi’s Argentina win the title but the Germans showed their class during the whole tournament. As did Colombia, the Netherlands, etc. It was a wonderful experience to witness from close by. I can’t wait for 2018!

Gumball 3000

Another post, another story about cars and parties I’m afraid. With both cars and parties getting better and better, I have no clue how this can ever be exceeded, maybe only by next year’s edition of the Gumball 3000 rally.

Because that’s what has been making me really tired the last couple of weeks. Starting in Miami Beach on the 4th and ending on Ibiza on the 12th of June, while visiting New York, London and Paris on the way.

Huge parties every night, stops at various circuits, celebrities, you name it. Most definitely the craziest couple of days of my life, while being just a co-pilot……

Monaco Grand Prix

Just got back from Monaco where I witnessed Nico Rosberg winning the Formula 1 Grand Prix in what is, basically, his hometown.

I have been to various Grand Prix before, but this was the first in the – soundless era of the turbo F1 engine. But it was also the first that I watched from a 20 meter yacht, so no complaints there.

The speed of the cars in the narrow streets of Monte Carlo is something amazing, but to be honest, the parties and the atmosphere around the Grand Prix was truly something else. Ok, you need to know some people and have access to the better parties, but then it becomes a weekend that you won’t soon forget….

Unicat

Since I won the lottery, I’ve treated myself on all sorts of presents. From cars, to houses, to holidays, you name it. But now, I’ve really outdone myself by pretty much combining all these in the ultimate present: a Unicat!

Luckily for you, I upload an image with each post, otherwise you still wouldn’t have a clue. And actually that one image might not be enough, as what looks like an ordinary lorry, is actually a home on wheels and able to get you pretty much anywhere on the planet.

And that’s what I’m going to do. I’ve done the luxury hotels and the big cities. Now it’s time to get down and dirty in, to start with, Africa. And the Unicat will be the perfect companion.

Villa

As mentioned in my previous post, I’m more and more struggling to park all my cars. Also, the lease for my Parisian pied-a-terre is ending before the end of the year. I need a place to stay, so I’m having one built.

I’m talking properly villa-material here. Of course it will have a huge garage for my current cars (and the ones on my wish list), but it will also include a swimming pool with Jetstream and starry sky, a Dolby Digital home cinema room, a gym….. and lots more.

The land was bought, the plans are made and construction has begun. The only thing to do now is wait …. and keep an eye on the progress made, obviously…..
